Seasnake+ is aiming to contribute to EU’s clean energy transition. This will be done through innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions for offshore energy infrastructure by enhanced cable reliability and reduced maintenance costs.
During this first year the project’s partners have done a great job of working on several different innovations.
The project has developed a paint formulation with minimal biocide content to reduce environmental impact but still prevent fouling.
The work of creating a cleaning robot specifically designed for cable maintenance has started by producing the first print of a prototype.
We need to be able to understand how the cables are moving in the ocean and has therefore developed smart cables integrated with fiber-optic technology for real-time environmental data monitoring. The data can also be the input for modelling the motions.
We are constantly strengthening the collaboration between academia, industry and stakeholders within Europe to advance offshore renewable energy technologies.
During the year ahead, it’s time to validate the paint, develop and test the application chamber, continue the creation of the cleaning robot, use the fiber-optic technology and start the nearshore testing. It’s going to be an interesting year for Seasnake+ and all its partners.
