We’re excited to announce that test panels have now been deployed at Kristineberg Marine Research Station on the Swedish west coast as part of the SEASNAKE+ project, targeting sustainable biofouling control for offshore renewable energy (ORE) systems.

The test campaign includes both static and dynamic antifouling evaluations:

  • Static tests of feature coatings applied to Plexiglas samples; a nearshore testing of a surface protection system intended for medium voltage cables.

  • Dynamic tests are performed using custom-designed equipment built within the project to simulate hydrodynamic shear forces, offering realistic stress conditions found in the marine environment.

The coatings under investigation include:

  • Commercial marine antifouling products

  • Biocide-free formulations enhanced with Selektope®

  • Reference coatings with and without Selektope® to evaluate its specific impact

With the panels now deployed, the team will begin monitoring biofouling development over time. We look forward to sharing results as we continue working toward cleaner, more sustainable marine infrastructure.
